The rest of the project is going to be a pain in the butt...this was the easy part. Cutting trim pieces for the top, middle, and bottom for each pillar...caulking, priming, and then finally painting. And this is going to cause me to paint the whole freakin' house, too. Greatttt.

Yo...
It's been eleventy billion months since I updated.
My basement leaked again like it did last winter, and so everything got wet down there ...again.
I had a waterproofing company come out this time and plug my leak, so it should be fixed now. But I still have a damp stinky basement, and it sucks.
SOOOO, to prevent more water from putting pressure on the foundation, I hired one of our co-workers to come out today and dig in drain pipe on the side of the house. He just left, and he started at 9am. Lots of work. He connected all my dounspouts and the neighbor's downspouts on that side of the house, and ran it out to the street.
While I was BSing with the neighbor, I leaned on one of my front porch pillars, and look what happened:

I see I haven't posted crap since August. Time to catch up!
I went on a second road trip in late August with our local BCA chapter up to Wisconsin. We toured for a few days before the meet started, going to a cheese factory, Wisconsin Dells (another Branson-type place that kickel & dimes you to death), and finally made our way to a Brookfield - a suburb of Milwaukee. It rained at LEAST once every day of the trip...but that didn't stop us from enjoying some time off from the daily grind.
September flew by...
Labor Day weekend I had some folks over to the house, and was able to see Matt for a little while. Not to mention all the other folks who I rarely get to hang with!
Second weekend in Sept: Sedalia Country Club annual Fall 3-man Scramble - always a great time, since I get to spend some time with Dad that I normally don't get to do. Oh yeah, we played some Golf...kicked major ass on the first day of the tournament, and played OK the second day. We didn't place at all, but had a good time trying.
THIRD weekend - Truxton! Jon built a place out in the middle of nowhere last Winter, and we go out there to fish and hunt every few months. Paintball is usually a popular activity there, but we weren't in the mood this weekend. Mostly just drank beer, caught fish, and shot clay pigeons. Good times, indeed.
Up to this weekend, it's been pretty slow.
Jon was out of town for his Birthday last weekend, so we celebrated yesterday. His parents set up a gathering at a small "winery" called Vintner's Cellar. We brought snackies to munch on while we sucked down bottles of wine and laughed at farting birthday cards. Here are some pictures of the slide...

| | John Pizzarelli - I Was a Little too Lonely | ] | Hello world...get ready for a random post.
I see I haven't posted in almost 2 months. I guess the whole LJ thing has worn off with most of us, but it's still a good window for those of us who do read it.
Well, life is about the same as it was a couple months ago. I am now officially in "cruise control." Work, eat, sleep, repeat. Pay bills every two weeks. Mow the lawn once a week, if it needs it. The heat has started to crisp up the front yard. I was actually able to wait over a week to mow this time. The backyard was still furry, but the front is pretty dry.
People ask me if I am seeing anyone at the moment - my usual response is no. I gave up trying to find someone a while ago. I just don't care right now. Someone is literally going to have to fall into my arms for me to notice. Do I get lonely? Not nearly as much as I used to. I don't have the constant reminders of relationships like I did in school, so I rarely think about it. Most of my work is done around assholes and old people, so no problems there. Screw it - if someone is interested, they can come to me. The dating game is bullshit, anyway.
Work is crazy, as usual. We hired a guy that went to high school with us - Adam Kaufmann. We now have THREE Adams working at Pro-irrigation. That makes it extra fun for the office girls. "Adam who? Tall? Red head? There're like 37 of them working here, so you're gonna have to do better than that." It's good to have some more help, and Adam K seems to have a good head on his shoulders. The work is just rolling in...it's going to be a big year.
Let's see, what have I not talked about? AH - Cars. Everyone knows how much I love my Buicks :)
I just sold my 66 Wildcat on eBay to a guy in Norway. Last Fall, my convertible went to Germany. It seems to Euro-dudes are into Buicks. The 66 is still sitting in my garage, waiting for the payment to arrive and the shipping company to drag it to the East coast.
My 71 Centurion Formal Coupe is alive and well! I got it started after a major engine surgery this Spring. I buffed the paint out and cleaned everything up on it. This past weekend, I attended two shows. The O'Fallon Civic Park show got me a 2nd place plaque. Sunday's show in Ladue netted me a "Best in Class" plaque. I have gotten many great compliments on my work, so maybe that'll generate a little side business. My annual traveling season is coming up in August, as I will be going to Columbus, OH Aug 1-6, and driving to WI at the end of Aug. I CAN'T WAIT!!! Just over a month away....wow! Time is flying.
Time for bed...at 10pm, I turn into a pumpkin. |

[Apr. 1st, 2007|12:43 pm] |
This is a note from Sarah, Bob's wife.
Hello to all my myspace friends...
I just wanted to let you all know that my husband Bob is very sick. He's been in the ICU since last wednesday morning, and he may be there for quite a long time.
He has a severe case of acute pancreatitis, caused by a gallstone traveling from his gallbladder into his pancreas, causing it to get backed up, inflamed and then infected.
The doctor has said that he has an excellent chance of making a complete recovery, with no reoccurences ever again. The difficulty with pancreatitis is that you just have to wait for the pancreas to heal, and support all the other organs in the meantime to help with the healing process. There is no timetable for the disease. He'll continue to get worse untill he plateaus, and then he'll make a slow recovery.
Currently he's on a ventilator to help him breathe because the swelling in his belly makes it hard to take a deep breath. He's sedated and will be asleep at least until after he gets his gallbladder removed, which will be done hopefully tomorrow, depending on his vital signs. He's septic, and on lots of antibiotics to help him fight the infections. All of his medications plus the sepsis and fever and fatigue have made him very confused and stressed, so it is good that he is able to rest with the help of the sedation medications.
If you would like to visit him, you are welcome to. He may be able to hear us while he is asleep. I would certainly also appreciate visits from friends to help me be strong for Bob too. Give my phone or Bob's a call and I'll get the message, or you can contact me here and I'll email you.
Also, I would like Bob's friends to know that he's sick, it's nice to hear well-wishes, so please feel free to spread the word, so that all of us can pull for him together.
Thanks guys,
-Sarah |
